About Al Basar USA

No One Goes Blind From Something We Can Prevent.

Since 1989, we have brought eye care to underserved communities across 52 countries. This is who we are, and why we do not stop.

Our mission

Restore Sight, Restore Dignity

We deliver free, high-quality eye care to communities the world’s healthcare systems have not reached — mobile camps where there are no clinics, permanent hospitals where there is no specialist, and training where there are no local doctors. Schools where no one has tested a child’s vision.

Our vision

A World Where Preventable Blindness Has No Place.

Thirty-seven years after our first camp in Hyderabad, we still believe what we believed then: that sight is a gift, and that no one should lose it for lack of distance, money, or a trained doctor nearby.

Our story

From One Camp To Four Programs Across Two Continents.

One surgery at a time, for thirty-seven years.

Al Basar International Foundation began with a single eye camp in Hyderabad, Pakistan, in 1989. By the next year, we had opened our first permanent hospital. Today, our network reaches 52 countries. Al Basar USA is the American arm of that work, founded in 2018 to channel U.S. donor support into the foundation’s programmes overseas.

From humble beginnings to a global network.

What began as a single eye camp in 1989 has grown into a life-changing force across two continents. By the third quarter of 2025, Al Basar USA had reached 697 cities across 52 countries, with 32 operational hospitals providing year-round eye care. None of this happened overnight. It happened one camp at a time, one hospital at a time, one community partnership at a time, through three and a half decades of steady, often unseen work.
