We deliver free, high-quality eye care to communities the world’s healthcare systems have not reached — mobile camps where there are no clinics, permanent hospitals where there is no specialist, and training where there are no local doctors.
Our vision
A world where preventable blindness has no place
Thirty-seven years after our first camp in Hyderabad, we still believe what we believed then: that sight is a gift, and no one should lose it for lack of distance, money, or a trained doctor nearby.
The journey, in brief
1989
The first camp
A single mobile eye camp in Hyderabad, Pakistan. 1,563 patients screened.
1990
First hospital
Al-Ibrahim Eye Hospital opens in Karachi — and has not closed since.
2000s
The network grows
Hospitals and camps expand across Africa and Asia.
Today
A global force
32 hospitals across 6 countries; reach in 52, with millions treated.

Mr. Emad Al Reshoud
Chairman
More than 30 years of leadership in global oil and gas and over 25 years devoted to eye care. He has led Al Basar’s work across remote regions of Africa and Asia, personally joining eye camps to restore vision. BSc in Chemical Engineering, with executive programs at the University of Notre Dame and IHRDC Boston. Also serves on the Board of Al Basar International Foundation UK.
